Following in the trend of late-model Corvettes being re-bodied to look like old 'Vettes, this illustration shows Blue Fusion's (that's actually the name of the company, not some fanboy's screen name) hopes for a car that combines the C6 chassis with C2 split-window styling. While this sounds like a great idea, they've yet to actually make one, which is fine by us because they could probably use a history lesson first. You see, they say they're basing the styling of the Rossi 66 on the "1966 C2 split-window Corvette", which is a bit puzzling considering that the iconic split-window design was only on the original 1963 models. But Blue Fusion doesn't have time to study up on trivia, because they're scrambling to get a working production model ready for November's SEMA show.
Their optimistic press release is below the jump.

At a news conference announcing GM's Lordstown, OH plant will receive a hot $350 million cash injection to build the new Chevrolet Cruze in the United States, GM CEO Rick Wagoner revealed a full-size foam model of the new 2011 compact replacement to the Chevy Cobalt. As we reported yesterday, the new Chevy Cruze will be revealed officially at the Paris Motor Show (so we can see that brand-spankin' new interior in person) and is scheduled to go on sale in March 2009 in Europe, where it will be available with 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter gasoline engines and a 2.0-liter turbodiesel. GM has not yet made a commitment on engine options to be offered here in the United States when the Lordston plan starts pumping out the little econoboxes by mid-2010 other than the already announced 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Full press release below the jump.

(That's David Kimball's cut-away artwork view of the Corvette Z06 engine; pretty to see, but pricey at the pumps).
If you think car-makers, especially the Detroit Three, aren’t interested in life out here in the real world, rest easy.
A press release from a car-maker industry group demonstrates that they are indeed paying attention to the rest of us. While saying little to nothing about the future product they’re trying to design, build and market, they do offer some tips for we poor plebeians in a press release, something they’ve dubbed “EcoDriving.”
Among their tips to drivers are knowing which oil to use in your car and don’t tailgate. And no, I’m not kidding. More on this so-called EcoDriving later; you'll want to read it.

Now Playing!
The behind the scenes of the new re-visioned movie "Death Race" starring Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ian McShane and yes, Joan Allen. Whereas the names of the characters they play may be the same, the storyline's anything but — this time the "Death Race" is set in what we'd been told was an "economic" prison sometime in the not-so-distant dystopian future.

The thing about the Cobra 427 is that you can never take all of your friends along while they're getting drunk. If only there was a longer Cobra with another four seats, each with its own five-point harness, a bottle cooler in the middle with six glass holders (?), and big amps. Then you could be your own Woodward Dream Cruise stretched-limo Cobra party — yay! More Below...

GM is set to unveil fuel efficient models of all of its biggest gas guzzlers in 2009. The Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon, and even the Cadillac Escalade will be equipped with gas saving technology. Can innovations like this help clean up GM’s archaic image?
As a basic principle of fuel economy, smaller cars get better gas mileage. Engineering trends keep pushing the limits of the term ‘compact’ car while somehow keeping the interiors large enough to carry people. More Article, lick Below...

The latest exhaust parts from SaRD are this emissions friendly but high flowing catalytic converter center pipe section for the Nissan GT-R. We’ve seen these go on sale at a number of global distributors over the past couple of weeks. Garage Saurus have gone ahead and fitted one to their white demo car. The same car we saw them create a pretty wild custom exhaust on about a week ago. More photos below...

Remember those 5Zigen SP street spec exhausts we posted about a while ago? Jeremy over at SpeedForSale has fitted one up to their black R35 GT-R as they have come into stock recently. They also have the 5Zigen front pipes fitted as well which delete two of the cat converters. They’ve gone through the effort of posting up a sound clip/video as well and it sounds very nice indeed. Under a new research directive at Ames National Laboratory, scientists are honing in on a way to perfect a process called gasification to create cheap ethanol from almost any carbon source without fermentation.
If they’re successful, crops, agricultural waste, lawn clippings, raked leaves, sewage sludge and garbage could all be turned into ethanol using the same efficient process, in the same facility, under one roof.
