It's been photographed for months and
referred to alternately as Dino and F149, but for now at least, the newest
stallion from Maranello goes by the generic moniker, Ferrari GT. Today, the
automaker launched www.ferrarigtcountdown.com where
the car will be gradually revealed during the runup to the Paris Motor Show this
September. Ferrari promises to feed us technical details, sound files and photos
of the car between now and Paris. Right now you can see a few teaser images and
hear the engine sing its sweet, sweet song as it starts up, runs up and down
through the gears, and screams by at full tilt. The countdown timer on the site
currently shows 7 days until something else is revealed. Looks
like we can put those Dino-branded rumors to rest for good; whatever this car is
officially named, it is most definitely a Ferrari. See you in ten days, when the
next puzzle piece hits the web.

There are always great stories behind the restoration of a classic car, especially when it comes to how one started the process. "I first saw the car at my friend's house and it sat there for two years before I had the nerve to ask him to sell it to me," Edward Denava recalls. Once he got the car for a deal, only three grand, he took it home and stripped it down to the frame. Being a family kind of man can keep you quite busy, what with providing
for your family, attending your children's school activities and family
functions with the wife. It's hard to believe that Edward Denava of
norwalk, California, has enough time to fulfill his passion for
lowriders, specifically his beauty of a bomb, a '48 Chevrolet Fleetline
that he calls "Root beer Float."

Auto dealers are tossing around more competitive hybrid financing and leasing offers, as the gasoline-electric segment continues to mature.
According to R.L. Polk & Co, hybrid vehicle registrations were up 38 percent in 2007 compared to 2006 numbers. This means that with 350,289 new hybrids on roads, gasoline-electric car shoppers will soon see a healthy used hybrid marketplace affected by all the laws of supply and demand. However, AutoleaseDirect.com Principal Jerry Thompson suggests consumers shouldn't hold their breathe for any spectacular hybrid deals.
"Hybrids are holding their residual values at a higher percentage than non-hybrids," Thompson says, attributing the recent surge in hybrid interest to lower payments and increased consumer demand.
Additionally, rising gasoline prices may have an even more profound affect on the new and used hybrid marketplace. Swapalease.com, which claims to be the world's largest automotive lease marketplace, says it is seeing a greater number of hybrid vehicle listings and more hybrid lease transfers since the beginning of 2008. AAA data shows the national average for regular unleaded fuel has risen steadily each month since then. Post automakers will continue to increase hybrid production this year, as even older models such as the Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango SUVs are getting alternative powertrain.

Tummy Shield Photos: www.tummyshield.com.au
According to a recent study by the University of Michigan, if all pregnant women wore a car seatbelt, approximately 200 fetuses could be saved each year and an estimated 370 fetuses die as a result of car crashes each year in the United States. However, stretching a seat belt across a growing abdomen is not the easiest job, nor is the belt comfortable across your tummy. A team of Australian engineers has come up with a novel seat belt especially for pregnant women. Unlike traditional seat belts which fit across the abdomen, the Tummy Shield is designed to be worn around the thighs, therefore protecting the abdomen from trauma resulting from a car collision...

Many manufacturers have made production based track cars, some of which even come straight off the assembly line. But what would happen if an OEM engineering department was given a clean sheet of paper? Honda basically did this when they were looking for a car for their racing school at Suzuka and the result is the Side-By-Side.

While the tornado in Leighton, Alabama took place over a year ago, we just stumbled across this security footage showing cars being tossed like toys from a parking lot. This looks to be a relatively small twister and only a glancing blow to the cars, so imagine if it had been a big one and a direct hit, those cars would be gone. Remember kids, if you see an approaching funnel cloud, find a ditch or culvert to hide in (assuming you can't find a building or a shelter), because you might be accompanying your car to another part of the county.
